CDI & DMHC Regulatory Activities: Priorities and Critical Updates

Regarding the latest in state regulations and activities relating to the dental benefits industry, this session will allow attendees to hear directly from representatives from two key state agencies: the California Department of Insurance (CDI) and the Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC). Hear from experienced experts about the most recent developments concerning relevant regulations and licensing updates for the dental benefits industry, including Dental Medical Loss Ratio (DMLR) reporting across all market types and updates on regulations critical to the dental benefits industry.
Ethan Lavelle
Attorney
California Department of Insurance (CDI)
Ethan Lavelle is an attorney in the Health Policy Approval Bureau, where he works on health insurance policy form review as well as other issues related to health insurance, including dental insurance. Prior to joining CDI, Ethan worked in the private sector handling legal matters including medical and dental malpractice and insurance defense. Ethan attended CSU Long Beach for undergraduate studies, and UC Davis King Hall for law school.
Amanda Levy
Deputy Director, Health Policy and Stakeholder Relations
California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC)
Amanda Levy is the Deputy Director of Health Policy and Stakeholder Relations, where she is responsible for fostering proactive and effective relations between the DMHC and its stakeholders while serving as primary advisor to the Director on critical issues and providing strategic planning and policy direction on emerging issues and industry trends. Prior to joining the DMHC, Amanda worked for the California Psychological Association (CPA), where she served as the Director of Government Affairs. While at CPA, she worked as the stakeholder representative to various state departments, mental health organizations, mental health provider groups, health plans, and consumer groups.
Pritika Dutt
Deputy Director, Office of Financial Review
California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC)
Pritika Dutt is the Deputy Director of the Office of Financial Review. In this capacity, she oversees the office that ensures all California managed care health plans and their contracted risk-bearing organizations are in compliance with financial solvency requirements and standards. Her office is also responsible for identifying trends that may affect the continued financial viability of commercial, governmental, and specialized health plans. She also advises the Director and Chief Deputy Director on financial solvency issues and their impact on California’s healthcare delivery system.
