A collection of topics will be covered during this session from an actuarial standpoint. Some of the latest topics in the session will include the Medicare market, the individual ACA market, and minimum loss ratio requirements. 


Tory Carver
Actuary
Milliman

Tory Carver is an actuary with Milliman’s Hartford, Connecticut office. She joined the firm in 2017. Tory has experience with dental plans in commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid markets. She assists in premium rate development and provider contract analysis and has done core actuarial dental pricing and underwriting work for many dental carriers. She helps with Milliman’s Dental Actuarial Analytics Network Study for commercial and Medicare markets. This product uses a vast contributor database of dental claims to provide competitive insights on dental network discounts and utilization to study participants. Tory is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and an American Academy of Actuaries member.

Compliance Consultant
Milliman

April is a compliance consultant with the Tampa office of Milliman. She joined the firm in 2014, bringing with her 10 years of prior experience in the insurance industry. April has experience in compliance consulting, policy form drafting and other compliance-related services for health products. April has been involved in numerous research and product development projects, focusing on dental and vision products. April also assists health insurers with network filings and research on network adequacy and oversight rules. She has worked closely with supplemental products such as hospital indemnity, critical illness and accident insurance. She also has experience with the various filing requirements for the Affordable Care Act. She has worked closely with regulators to secure approval on many filings. April also has served as client and project manager, overseeing each step of the project and adhering to strict deadlines. She has worked closely with clients to understand their needs during developing, drafting and filing a product. Before joining Milliman, April spent 10 years working in managed care, analyzing data on risk, profits, and trends applicable to health plans and overseeing state filings.




Nolan Kurtz
Actuary
Milliman

Nolan Kurtz is an actuary with Milliman’s Hartford, Connecticut office. He joined the firm in 2016. Nolan has a strong background in data analytics with pharmacy, medical, and dental claims in the commercial and Medicare markets. He has worked with medical, pharmacy, and dental claims in multiple countries with varying levels of data quality and different development environments. Nolan helps with the technical aspects of Milliman’s Dental Actuarial Analytics Network Study for commercial and Medicare markets. Nolan is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
