X-12 Conference
NADP Dental Informatics Manager Brian Flynn represented NADP members' unique viewpoints during the X12 Standing Meeting Sept. 27 - Oct. 3 in Cincinnati. Participation at X12 is part of your association's ongoing representation and leadership in the arena of Dental Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standards. X12 is chartered by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and develops EDI standards for national and global markets. NADP (Brian) is a voting member of X12 and the Code Maintenance Committee; Brian serves as vice-chair of the Dental Caucus.

NADP Director of Government Relations Kris Hathaway represented the dental benefits industry Oct. 6-8 at the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) annual conference in Atlanta. The meeting focused on policy discussions regarding public programs, reaching the underserved population, and implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
NY Exchange Certification
NADP Director of Government Relations Kris Hathaway traveled to Albany, New York in a meeting organized by the Life Insurance Council of New York (LICONY) with the Department of Insurance, the Exchange, and members to discuss off-Exchange certification of dental plans Oct 20.

NADP Director of Government Relations Kris Hathaway and representatives of United Concordia and Principal attended an event at the White House to listen and discuss the launch of the FFM SHOP Oct 24.

Dental Informatics Manager Brian Flynn served as your voice during the American Dental Association's Standards Committee on Dental Informatics (SCDI) Oct. 6-8 in San Antonio, Texas. SCDI develop informatics standards, specifications, technical reports, and guidelines and interact with other entities involved in the development of health informatics standards aimed at implementation across the dental profession.

Serving as your voice, NADP Dental Informatics Manager Brian Flynn represented members during the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) fall conference Oct. 20-23 in Reston, Virginia.
IHTSDO
Deputy Director Tim Brown is with Dr. Fred Horowitz (Nevada Dental Benefits) at the Dental Special Interest Group meeting of the International Health Transaction Standards Development Organisation in Amsterdam. Dr. Horowitz was just selected as the Vice-Chair of the Dental SIG which is ? address dental diagnostic codes. IHTSDO owns and administers SNOMED CT which is incorporating dental diagnostic coding into its system.

NADP Press Release - NADP distributed the news release, NADP Opposes Rules Limiting Access for Dental Patients to Texas media outlets. The release highlighted proposed rules by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) that would restructure and limit a dentist's ability to enter into contracts that would allow a non-dentist control over non-clinical administrative services. The release was featured in the Dallas Morning News and Fort Worth Star Telegram and posted on Yahoo Finance, MarketWatch and MoneyNews.
