Meetings
X12
The X12 Dental Caucus elected NADP Dental Informatics Manager Brian Flynn co-chair during its trimester meeting June 2-6 in Indianapolis. From this leadership position, NADP advances the unique needs of our members regarding workable health care transactions for dental stakeholders.  Accredited by the National Standards Institute, X12 is a 30-year organization that develops national and international EDI standards for health care and other industries.

CADP
NADP Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland co-presented "Where We Are, How We Got There, and Where We're Heading" at the California Association of Dental Plan Annual Conference June 5-8 in Palm Desert CA.  NADP Board Member and CADP Vice President Jeff Album moderated the session while Julia Grant of Delta Dental Plans Association co-presented.

US NOHA 6th Leadership Colloquium
NADP Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland represented the dental benefits industry at the U.S. National Oral Health Alliance Sixth Leadership Colloquium June 16-18 in Washington, D.C.  The Colloquium entitled, "Strengthening the Dental Care Delivery System," raised the following question: What are we going to do, in the short and the long term, individually and collectively, to assure optimal oral health through prevention and treatment for vulnerable people?  U.S. NOHA fosters common-ground, cross-sector collaboration, and a sustainable commitment to optimal oral health for all through prevention and treatment for vulnerable populations. Alliance Leadership Colloquia facilitate discussion in an atmosphere of trust and openness so we can make progress together.

Washington, D.C.
On the heels of the U.S. NOHA  meetings, Evelyn met with key Senate offices and the Children's Dental Health Project regarding health care reform issues.

Delta Dental of Illinois Board Retreat
NADP Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland addressed Delta Dental of Illinois board members at their retreat in Chicago June 22-27.

DQA
As a member of the Dental Quality Alliance (DQA) Executive Committee, NADP Deputy Executive Director Timothy L. Brown is serving as your voice regarding dental performance measures at the Dental Quality Alliance (DQA) meeting June 26-28 at the American Dental Association headquarters in Chicago.  DQA is on the verge of releasing measures and NADP will keep members posted on these developments via Dental Interact and this newsletter.  

NAHU
Because more than one NADP volunteer group identified outreach to the broker community as a priority at the 2012 Leadership Conference, Director of Research Jerry Berggren and Director of Membership and Communications Rene Chapin participated in the National Association of Health Underwriters Trade Show in Atlanta June 23-25.  NADP promoted the value of dental benefits and increased brand awareness for the association during this event.
