    This past month NADP served as the voice of the dental benefits industry to the media and influential groups overseeing electronic transactions and regulations affecting your company. NADP collaborated with the following organizations; the American Dental Association, California Association of Dental Plans and the 2014 Program Integrity Summit. Media outlets included Employee Benefits News, Kaiser Health News and Dr. Bicuspid.

    Meetings

    ADA Standards Committee on Dental Informatics (SCDI)

    NADP Dental Informatics Manager Brian Flynn represented the dental benefits industry during the American Dental Association Standards Committee on Dental Informatics meeting, Feb. 19-20 in Chicago. SCDI develops industry standards and guidelines for electronic transactions.

    ADA Code Maintenance Committee (CMC)

    NADP Deputy Executive Director Timothy L. Brown and Dental Informatics Manager Brian Flynn are sharing the industry viewpoints this regarding revisions to Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes during the CMC meeting in Chicago Feb. 26-28.

     

    California Association of Dental Plans (CADP) Legislative Conference

    NADP Director of Government Relations Kris Hathaway represented NADP members at the Feb. 10-13 CADP Legislative Conference in Sacramento.

     

    2014 Program Integrity Summit

    Dr. Stephanie Lepsky, OptumInsight, is representing the dental benefits industry Feb. 24-25 at the 2014 Program Integrity Summit for Medicaid, CHIP and Title V Oral Health Program Policymakers and Stakeholders in Washington, D.C.  Dr. Lepsky is presenting challenges regarding areas of fraud, abuse and waste.  She is also contributing to a list of Risk Management strategies that will be developed at the summit and may be distributed to the broader stakeholder community.

    Employee Benefit News - Reporter Michael Giardina interviewed NADP Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland regarding the effect ACA will have on dental service in medical plans, and how dental savings plans can help out both employers and employees

    Kaiser Health News - NADP provided background information on a piece by Marissa Evans regarding how consumers are feeling about the premium rates of dental plans in the exchange and why premiums are higher in some states.

    Dr. Bicuspid - Reporter Donna Domino interviewed NADP Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland about pediatric dental coverage and the Affordable Care Act.

    NADP Press Release - NADP released, NADP Encouraged by Early FFM Enrollments but says, "There's Still Work to be Done," which highlighted demand for adult dental coverage and the impact of the IRS ruling on pediatric benefits sold in the Federally-facilitated Marketplace.  The release appeared in business journals, financial news websites and major media markets across the U.S. including Anchorage, Boston, Carlsbad, El Paso, Fort Worth, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Lexington, Macon, Oakland, and Olympia.
