NAHU
Director of Research Jerry Berggren and Director of Membership and Communications Rene Chapin participated in the National Association of Health Underwriters Trade Show in Scottsdale, Arizona, June 29-July 1. NADP promoted the value of dental benefits and increased brand awareness for the association during this event.
DQA
Dr. Craig Amundson, HealthPartners, Deputy Executive Director Timothy L. Brown and NADP Informatics Manager, Brian Flynn, represented the dental benefits industry during the recent Dental Quality Alliance (DQA) meeting July 9-11 in Chicago. NADP serves on the DQA Executive Committee. The mission of the DQA is to advance performance measurement as a means to improve oral health, patient care and safety through a consensus-building process.
Washington, D.C.
On July 22 NADP Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland, CAE, and Director of Government Relations Kris Hathaway met with key officials from the U.S. Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service regarding the Advanced Premium Tax Credits (APTC.) NADP reviewed the policy, legal and financial impacts of the IRS calculation. (See related article)
Washington, D.C. Fundraiser
NADPac held a fundraiser luncheon July 22 for Senator Mark Warner (Virginia) in Washington, D.C. Co-hosts included Assurant, MetLife and United Concordia Dental, with additional contributions from CIGNA, Dominion Dental, Guardian and Principal.

NADP Executive Director Evelyn F. Ireland, CAE, was interviewed by industry freelance writer Bruce Shutan regarding the growth of dental self-insured products (ASO -Administrative Services Only) in the marketplace.
